You may or may not know what a Credenza is, for those who don't, it's a cabinet used in the dining room to store china, crystal, linens, serving dishes and seasonal dining décor.
I have been giving this much thought, as my little Heather doesn't have a lot of furniture in her Art Deco home. In fact her room looks quite bare at present.
It's been designed it to coordinate with her settee and chair, complete with the ribbon trim. Below is the template I made for hubby to cut the top and base out of MDF.
I shall use dowels and fine corrugated paper to achieve the curved edges as I did on the Jazz Club bar. Then I'll add the purple, cream and gold Art Deco ribbon to complete the look.
I didn't know, but there is something called very similar, so I could guess. She will love it!
ReplyDeleteCredenza is Italian, some call it a buffet, sideboard or dresser in English, but it does sound more elegant in Italian don't you think? Oh Heather will be over the moon. :)
DeleteFantastic idea! There is a very similar word in Polish (with the same meaning): kredens. I can't wait to see yours, I'm sure it's goin to be gorgeous (love this colours together)!
ReplyDeleteThanks Chiriann, I'm working on it today so more photos will be taken along the way. The colours are vibrant and in keeping with the era I think. I need more bits and pieces to go on the Credenza now...it never ends. :)
DeleteLearned something new today, Credenza. It is rather beautiful. Much better than the Swedish word - 'byrå'. Sometimes, depending on what type of buffet it is we call it 'linneskåp' or 'vitrinskåp'.
ReplyDeleteLook forward to seeing the results!
There is something rather nice about saying things in Italian, I like the sound of credenza much better than sideboard or buffet. LOL!
DeleteNot long to go now, just waiting on knobs to arrive. 😘
