A company representative stated that the name was chosen to reflect that they "want to offer 5 star quality dolls and 5 star customer service". Their dolls are notable for comparatively low prices and bodies which can be easily posed.
Originally, each doll was offered as a basic blank doll, with the options of adding a wig, eyes, a face up, and/or a set of clothing.
5StarDoll also release 1/6 full set dolls with unique face-ups referred to as "Special Release" or SR. The Certificate of Authenticity for these dolls will have "Sculpt SR" followed by the Special Release number.
