Be My Valentine

With the Be My Valentine online teddy bear show coming up in February, I will be extremely busy over the next few weeks setting up the website and preparing the thirty six exhibiting artist booths. I probably won't have a great deal of time to post comments on everyone's blogs as I would like, but I will do my best.

Bobo will once again have his own fundraising booth where all the funds from the adoption of his bears (donated by the artists) goes to Free the Bears Fund Inc. Last year, thanks to the support of all our wonderful teddy bear artists and collectors, we raised enough money, once again, to look after ten bears for a whole year.

Monday

Cushion Cubbies

This sweet little Plum Blossom sitting on her cushion, is still looking for a home. She is my own contribution to Bobo's Booth and she dearly wants to help Free the Bears Fund Inc. care for Bobo and his friends at the sanctuary in Phnom Tamao Wildlife Rescue Centre, Cambodia.

Last year (2009) the TBACA artists who so generously made and donated the wonderful bears to Bobo's Booth raised enough money to care for ten bears for a whole year. We have already managed to raise enough funds to care for a further seven bears this year.

However, in the hope we can once again raise enough to care for ten bears, Bobo's Booth will remain open until the end of the month. If you would like to help and receive a lovely artist bear of your very own, please stop by Bobo's Booth and purchase one.

Iolanthe Fae was lucky enough to find a home of her own just north of the Black Forest, at Woodend . . . a very appropriate place for a fairy I thought!

Forget Me Not is hoping she doesn't get completely forgotten and end up like a wallflower on the shelf.

And my dear little English Rose was still waiting patiently for the right mummy to come along, has also been adopted and is moving to North Carolina.

If you would like to adopt a Cushion Cubby to keep you company, listen to all of your problems and bring you comfort, please email me.

The Nose Has It

I have been changing a few things on my bears lately and you can see the changes here . . . right on the tip of her nose!

Then Australian Bear Creations asked me to write a tutorial on how I embroider my noses for the magazine, which I did. The tutorial gives step by step details, including photos of how to achieve a beautifully embroidered teddy bear nose just like the one shown here on Ginger Gorgeous.

Wednesday

A Tasty Treat

I thought I would introduce another of my favourite creations. This is Coconut Ice from my Tasty Treats Series, who is now living comfortably in San Francisco, California USA.

She is made from a wonderful English mohair, that is quite dense and certainly unique. Unfortunately this fabric is no longer available due Norton Weaving closing it's doors in November, 2006.

I enjoyed working with this fabric and lucky for me I purchased several metres. I intend to make similar bears in each of the other two colours . . . so you can look forward to seeing a Peppermint Pattie and a Caramel Creme in the not to distant future.

Monday

Miniature Ted

I've been busy doing what I do best . . . making teddy bears. I'm continuing to work on my project bear, it's almost stuffed and the accessories are coming along nicely. Remembering to take photos of the accessories as I go, is the hardest thing. Silly me finished the first accessory I was making before I realised I had forgotten to take a photo.

I thought I would make up for it a little by posting a photo of one of my bears I made a few months back, who now living with his new mummy in West Creek, New Jersey USA.
