Fairies in the Dell

I managed to do a little more on my pink fairy, her hair was a complete experiment, I just glued some mohair curls straight on to a silicone cap.

I finished the dress last night from Broderie Anglaise and Guipure lace that I purchased earlier in the day from Spotlight, then I made a circlet out of two toned pink paper flowers. The shoes I already had in my stash, but I'm not sure if they will stay.

I also managed to finish the other little fairy dress and circlet, but that's about it.

I took a few pics today of the two together with the pumpkin candle holder which I purchased at Dusk with a gift card my daughter gave me last Christmas. It makes a wonderful Halloween prop.

Felt Distraction

I have always loved playing with textiles, I also like working with wool felt. It is so versatile and is perfect for making so many different projects, like these pin cushions.

These have been fun to make and a wonderful distraction while I wait for dolls.

Ondine (Part 2)

I managed to do a little more on her costume yesterday, but didn't have time to take any photos until today, so here's another couple of progress photos of her.

I also finished the "sleeves" yesterday, I wanted them to look a little like fins, but still show her beautiful human hands. Now have to decide whether she needs some sort of head adornment.

Ondine (Part 1)

When I first saw the DIM Youra head I knew I had to have her, even though I wasn't sure what I was going to do with her. However, the more I looked at her, the easier it became to see who she would become . . . a sprite or more precisely a water spirit.

My first step was to purchase a body for her, a Luts Romantic Kid Delf. Then a wig and some very special eyes, not blue, nor green, but a combination of both.

 

As my thoughts turned to creating this water spirit, I gave her a name . . . Ondine.

Then a purpose . . . to direct the flow and course of the earth's water. She would live in the waters of Elvin Forest and become a Guardian of the streams and the babbling brooks that meandered through it.

 

In my mind, Ondine's clothing had to shimmer just like the sun dancing on a lake and should be the colour of the sea. Soon the search for fabric was underway. I was lucky to find exactly what I was looking for quite quickly and as the idea continued to grow, the sewing began.

 

 

Fortunately, I had a lovely watery backdrop that would do to show you the first stage of Ondine's very special clothes.

YOSD Outfits

Well it's been a busy few days, as it has been my intention to keep my mind fully occupied so as not to order the dolls on my wish list. Somehow I have managed to resist by concentrating on my sewing.

I adjusted the design shown in the previous post and added some individual touches so each one is not only in different fabrics but each also has variation in style.

Although not shown in the top and bottom sets, each set comes complete with a matching hair clip.
