Dianna Effner

Missouri-based artist Dianna Effner had always been creative. She grew up in Park Forest, a suburb of Chicago, Illinois. In the 1960's while in college she studied painting, sculpture and ceramics.

In the late 1970's, she had an opportunity to sculpt for a porcelain-doll company in Illinois. Her penchant for absorbing and understanding new techniques served her well and she began making dolls herself, later buying her own kiln.

One of Dianna’s greatest accomplishments is her commitment to spreading the news about doll collecting, creating and commerce. In 1992, Expressions was launched, and she became known for her hands-on seminars, classes and workshops, combined with the business which provided molds and instructional videos.

Another way in which she  paved a path for future artists is with her Doll Dreamers Guild. Lana Dobbs, Nelly Valentino, Pat Green, Joyce Mathews, Helen Skinner, Geri Uribe and Magalie Dawson still lend their painting talent and artistic sensibilities to customising the Little Darling dolls.

Continuing to gain a loyal following and a fan base of devoted collectors, Dianna Effner grew as an artist and an enthusiast for the doll-art world. For four decades, she watched different styles of dolls come and go, and though her last days were spent dealing with the Little Darling line, she never lost her infatuation and respect for porcelain.
