Project: An Art Deco Screen (Part 2)

I finished the screen and here you can see it in Heather's apartment. I still need to add a few things to decorate her walls, but I'm happy with what I've done so far.

Heather: Good morning Holly, what are you doing in this neighbourhood?

Holly: I just dropped by to invite you to the Christmas party we are having this year.

Heather: Well you best sit down and fill me in with all the details. Would you like a cup of tea, my dear?

Holly: Oh that would be lovely, thank you, I could really do with one right now.
Heather: So when and where is the party going to be held? Who's coming?

Holly: Well that's to be a surprise. You just need to be ready Christmas Eve, when the limousine will pick you up at eight o'clock sharp. All the gang will be there.
Heather: So are we expected to dress for the occasion or is it a more casual affair?
Holly: Of course my dear, in your very best finery. It's going to be the best Christmas party ever.
Heather: I can hardly wait, it sounds really intriguing and exciting.

There will be more to this story later in the month. I'm going back to my sewing. 😘

The Giant Mushroom

Just near the edge of the Elvin Forest, not far from Sybil von Raven, but across the lane and on the way to Troll County, lies a Giant Mushroom.

This is the home of three little fairies. It is quite modest in size, as one would expect of a mushroom, but it's extremely comfortable inside. However, the fairies who live there prefer to spend most of their time outdoors enjoying the sunshine.

The first fairy, Pi (short for Sweet Pea) is enchanting and dainty with a seductive smile that always seems to transport adults back to the sun-drenched gardens of their childhood. Her early history is shrouded in mystery, it's quite possible she may have originated where fairies still grow up in the wild.

The second fairy, Wi (short for Wisteria), is full of wiles which are almost impossible to resist. She has a mind of her own and you would be wise to take the time to get to know this beauty before you befriend her. Like a Jezebel, she will steal your heart and then after you are weakened and besotted with love, she will dominate you, just as she does the dragons.

Linaria (Li for short) on the other hand is charming, delicate and graceful. Although Li may look quite fragile, don't let this mislead you, she comes from hardy stock. She has such a beautiful nature, yet as the fairy in charge, she somehow manages to keep Pi and Wi from getting into mischief.

Beside the Seaside

It was a an awfully hot day and the girls had spent the morning arguing about what they were going to do with their day. They were still arguing when their friend knocked on the door and asked them if they would like come with her to the beach.

They jumped at the chance. Both of them agreed a nice dip in the sea would be a wonderful way to cool off.

Unfortunately, in their rush to get going, they left their bathers at home on their bed. So in the end, they spent the afternoon building sand-castles while
singing this song.
Oh, I do like to be
beside the seaside
Oh, I do like to be
beside the sea
Oh, I do like to stroll along
the prom, prom, prom
where the brass bands play
tiddly-om-pom-pom.

So, just let me be
beside the seaside
I'll be beside
myself with glee
For there's lots of girls beside
I should like to be beside
beside the seaside
beside the sea.

Finding Ferny Dale

It was early when the three little elves left their home in the Elvin Forest to go looking for Misty's cousin. The sun had barely risen above the horizon, but they knew if they didn't make the most of the daylight, they may never find Ferny.

When they reached The Ridge (which was really just a moderate mound of grass) Hollow climbed high in an old tree to see if he could see Ferny, but he was nowhere to be seen. So he climbed a little higher. "Ah hem" he heard, looking all around and seeing no-one, he climbed even higher still. "Ah hem, are you looking for someone? Or are you just climbing all over my limbs for fun?"

Only then did Hollow realise, it was the tree that was talking to him. "Sorry Mr.Tree, we are looking for Ferny Dale, have you seen him?" he asked. "I don't know a Ferny Dale, so how would I know if I had seen him", the tree replied in a very deep voice. "By the way, I am not Mr.Tree, I'm an Ent and my name is Longbough".

It was then, as he was descending from the Ent, that Hollow saw Ferny hiding below. "Oh there you are!" he declared. Ferny looked up at him, slightly pink in the face and feeling very embarrassed by his situation.

Ferny had found a small leaf on the ground with which he managed to cover himself, so he didn't appear to be completely naked. He was pleased they had come to rescue him, but didn't know what to say or do. However, he managed a little smirk in acknowledgement of Hollow's comment.

Misty was very annoyed with Ferny and chastised him for being so stupid to lose all his luggage, even though she did feel a little sad he had been robbed of all his belongings, apart from his spectacles and bow tie.

Poor Ferny felt such a fool and really didn't want to come around from behind the Ent at all.

"Stop messing about Ferny, we need to get you home so we can visit the tailor and purchase some new clothes for you", said Misty in her sternest voice. She knew she needed to be forceful with her cousin or he'd never come from behind the Ent.

Then Mossy tried coaxing him, "You don't have to be embarrassed, it's not like you got robbed intentionally. I mean no-one wants to stroll around in their birthday suit, even in the Elvin Forest."

Finally Longbough chimed in, "I really don't now what all the fuss is about, after all I loose all my clothes every Autumn and no-one cares about my nakedness". After being encouraged by Misty, Mossy, Hollow as well as Longbough, he agreed to go home with them.

So the four little elves said their goodbyes to Longbough and headed home to Beechwood Hall, via the village tailor of course.
